Is KPV proven to treat inflammation in people?

No. The strongest KPV evidence comes from animal and cell studies, most notably a 2008 mouse colitis study. There are no large human trials establishing that KPV is safe and effective for any condition.1

What was KPV evaluated for at the July 2026 meeting?

The FDA-evaluated use listed for KPV is wound healing and inflammatory conditions.2

Is KPV legal in the United States in 2026?

KPV is not an FDA-approved drug and has no cleared compounding pathway. It was placed in Category 2 of the interim 503A list, then removed in April 2026 and referred to the July 2026 advisory committee. Removal from Category 2 did not add it to the approved list.2 3 4
