Peptides & the FDA review: your questions, answered

The evidence is old, small, and mixed. The best-designed human trial, in 1992, found only weak effects and concluded short-term DSIP was unlikely to be of major therapeutic benefit.¹

'Emideltide' is the name used for the substance in the FDA's 2026 compounding review paperwork; it refers to the same delta sleep-inducing peptide.²

DSIP is not an FDA-approved drug and has no cleared compounding pathway. It was in Category 2 of the interim 503A list, then removed in April 2026 and referred to the July 2026 advisory committee, where it is listed as 'Emideltide.' Removal did not place it on the approved list.^{2 3 4}
